How to Use Amtrak Coupons and Passes

The one-class upgrade “Use Coupon” option will only appear within the window of time referenced on your coupon—12 or 48 hours from departure. One upgrade coupon allows one customer to upgrade their seat on a single train. If you are connecting or traveling on a round-trip itinerary, you will need one upgrade coupon for each train you wish to upgrade on.

If you'd like to use an upgrade, book your trip in the lower class of service and then apply the upgrade coupon to your trip.

1. Choose "My Trip" and enter your 6-digit reservation number, identifying information and click “Find Trip.”
2. Click “Modify Trip.”
3. Choose the “Upgrade” option.
4. Choose the “Use Coupon” option and select or enter your coupon code. Click “Add” and confirm.
5. Receive your upgraded ticket instantly via email.

1. Locate your ticket on the home screen and tap "Trip Tools."
2. Tap "Upgrade."
3. Tap "Apply" next to the upgrade coupon you'd like to use or tap "Add Coupon" and enter the 14-digit coupon code.
4. Confirm your selection.
5. Your upgraded ticket will be instantly added to the app.

Select Plus and Select Executive members have a digital membership card that they can present to lounge attendants for entry (same-day Amtrak ticket required). They can access their digital member card when signed into the mobile app by tapping "Member Card" or on Amtrak.com, signing into their Amtrak Guest Rewards account, clicking their name at the top of the screen and then clicking “Lounge Access.”

Single Visit passes (same-day Amtrak ticket also required) are valid for use at one station lounge on one day, here’s how members can access their pass.

 

1. Click “Lounge Access” from your Account menu.
2. Present your Lounge Pass and same-day ticket for entry into the lounge.

The coupon is valid for a discount on a one-way ticket or off of ancillary items (e.g. Auto Train priority offloading, bikes, pets, etc). Coupons cannot be applied to travel booked with points. See coupon for full terms and conditions.

Each companion coupon can be used to bring a second person for a discount or for free. Valid for use on a one-way reservation. Here's how to add the coupon at the start of the booking process to see the updated fares.
