Considered the nation's "first intercity air-rail-ground transportation" facility, the station ushered in a new era by allowing for transfers between air, rail and public transportation services.

Free shuttle buses from this station to the BWI Airport terminals operate daily every 6-8 minutes (every 25 minutes 1:00 am - 5:00 am). Buses stop adjacent to the rail station garage directly across from the station building.
