• What is Points & Cash?

  Points & Cash allows you to pay for Amtrak travel using a combination of Amtrak Guest Rewards points and cash. Previously, reservations needed to be made using all points or all cash.
• How can I book using Points & Cash?

  Points & Cash is available exclusively on Amtrak.com and the Amtrak app. To book:
  

  1. Log in to your Amtrak Guest Rewards account.
  2. When searching for travel, select the “Use Points” filter in the search results
  3. Choose your preferred trip and proceed to checkout
  4. At the payment screen, select the dropdown to see your Points & Cash options
  5. Purchase a trip using both your points and cash

   
• Is there a minimum number of points to use Points & Cash?

  Yes, you must have 100 points to make a Points & Cash booking.
• Can I cancel or modify a Points & Cash booking?

  Points & Cash bookings cannot be changed after booking. However, reservations can be canceled with the points portion of the reservation fully refunded back to member account and the cash portion fully refunded back to original form of payment.
• Can I book using Points & Cash with an agent on the phone or at the station?

  Points & Cash is exclusively available on Amtrak.com and the Amtrak app and reservations cannot be made by an Amtrak agent. However, customer service agents can assist with cancelling a trip booked using Points & Cash.
• I am not an Amtrak Guest Rewards member. Can I use Points & Cash?

  Points & Cash is a great reason to join Amtrak Guest Rewards. Sign up for free at Amtrak.com/GuestRewards or the Amtrak App and begin earning points towards your first redemption.
  
• Will I earn points on Points & Cash bookings? What about Tier Qualifying Points (TQPs)?

  Yes, members earn both points and TQPs on the cash portion of booking at standard earning rates. Learn more at here.
  
• Can I use my digital wallet with Points & Cash?

  No, digital wallets like Apple Pay, Google Wallet and PayPal cannot be used along with Amtrak Guest Rewards Points to complete Points & Cash bookings.
• Can I add pets, bicycles and other additional items in my Points & Cash booking?

  Yes. When searching for travel, select the “Use Points” filter in the search results. Then choose your additional items when making your booking. At the payment screen, select the drop-down to see your Points & Cash options and purchase your trip using both your points and cash. Auto Train Priority Offloading is not available to purchase with points or Points & Cash at this time.
