Delays along the Northeast Corridor

New York Penn Station
The debris affecting the overhead powerline outside Newark Penn Station has been successfully removed. As a result, Normal service between New York Penn Station (NYP) and Newark Penn Station (NWK) will resume. However, please be advised that residual delays should be expected due to rail congestion. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Washington Union Station
Despite ongoing switch and signal issues, a plan has been implemented to allow some movement for equipment changes at Washington Union Station. Trains departing and arriving at the station may experience additional delays of at least 60 minutes due to rail congestion and limited space for northbound and southbound trains needing engine changes and the equipment required for these changes. While we will do our best to stay within the provided timeframes, please note that these estimates can change, resulting in longer or shorter delays. Please consider alternative modes of transportation if this timeframe does not work for you. We are committed to resolving this situation quickly to minimize any further inconvenience. Additional details will be provided as more information becomes available from personnel on the scene. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Customers with reservations on affected trains will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Amtrak will waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling our reservation center at 1-800-USA-RAIL.
